I remembered coming here back in 2015 two times after visiting a psychologist. When I brought the lunch boxes, the items they offered were limited.

We went for a quick lunch on a Saturday at around 11:45 am. There was no waiting inside the restaurant and we were seated as soon as we entered. The waiter greeted us and brought us hot tea and a menu very quickly. We ordered the wonton noodle soup, congee and a roasted duck noodle soup. Our order came out in about 5 minutes. The noodle was very good as the tenderness was right about, but the wontons did not taste good. I bite the wonton and saw lots of fatty meat inside. Usually wontons were made out of shrimps, but I saw no piece of shrimp inside their wonton at all. The roasted duck was great though! The skin was still crispy at the time it was served. They gave us like about 6 pieces of duck and they were all very yummy. The congee was fair. The only problem is that the utensils are put in a box on the table and people grabbed their own when needed. Just a little concern about cleanliness. There is no parking at this restaurant, street parking was tough around. Noise level was average, but lots of people walking in and out for take out. This place is really for quick lunch, so do not expect much of services or classy.

Came in with a friend for the lunch special. We ordered eggplant bowl with chicken bits and bittermelon with spareribs and they both came out pretty quickly and also tasted good. It was very filling too, plus it came with a big bowl of soup too! Both tax and tips included, we paid around $16 in total. A lunch special is about 6-7$ which is pretty good.

My family and I been coming here very often for years. Their dishes are very good, simple and of great value. Their cooking bring delicious traditional Cantonese dishes to the table. It is a true Cantonese style restaurant. We usually order the common dishes such as garlic fried chicken, Peking style pork chop, eggplant garlic with chicken and salted fish, mayo shrimp with walnut and broccoli, steamed or fried fish, assorted mushroom supreme, roasted pork, filet fish with tofu, lobster or seafood e-fun noodle, black bean clam, salt and pepper squid, house traditional chicken, fried rice, veggies and so many more. Most of their dishes are really good and we never had any complains. So you can order anything and it should be good. My family don't like too oily, too spicy, too salty, too sweet or too bland food or bad services and it is hard to find somewhere that qualify these categories. Fortunately we found City Cafe. They have combo deals at a good price which include rice and traditional broth soup. We usually order 8-15 dishes and food portions are huge, but it is not surprising that we can finish them all because they are delicious. Service has been very good for us unlike other reviews, the waiter always give us time to look at the menu and patiently answering our question. The manager takes the extra incentive to help the waiters if needed. He is always walking around to make sure everything is good, very friendly, attentive and funny. Thumps up to the manager. City cafe might not a five star restaurant and their dishes might not be extraordinary, but they cooking brings our family comfortably together without worrying about a bad meal at the end. It is our favorite family restaurant.

My family comes here often and we have brought many friends here. Through word of mouth they also have recommended City Cafe to their family and friends. This visit, our party of 8 ordered 2 dinner sets and an ala carte stir fried lobster with noodles. Similar to other occasions the dishes here came in generous portions, served with fresh ingredients and of balanced flavors. We always had a very satisfying meal. Usually for dine in guests lunch/dinner they offer complimentary house-made clear broth soup that would take a minimum of 2 hours to prepare. I really appreciate this offering. The set meals pricing ranges from $30-$138. Comes with lots of options from vegetable dishes, meats dishes and even seafood. It's really affordable and of good value. Pros: Affordable set dinner options that comes with complimentary soup, white rice & desserts(usually oranges). Cons: Service is average which is common in most Chinese restaurants in Sunset Park Chinatown. They accept cash payment only. Give this place a try.

City Café is a decent Chinese restaurant that offers a great all-day meal deal for those eating in small groups. For $30, customers can get 3 large entrée dishes with the House Special soup, plus rice (if requested). The menu selection for the entrée dishes are vast, so there is a bit of something for everyone - chicken, beef, pork, veggies - you name it they have it! In my most recent visit, I had a chance to try the Sweet and Sour Pork Chops, Scrambled Eggs with Shrimp and Fish Filet with Vegetables dishes and all were really good. There was nothing extraordinary about the flavors of each dish, but there was nothing wrong with them either. More surprisingly though, the portions were huge, which is really what made the deal worth it! We had 3 guys at our table and we were unable to finish all of the entrees. Although there are many restaurants on 8th Avenue, City Café still gets quite crowded during prime meal times so make sure to get here a bit earlier than normal eating times.

Surprisingly good service, and solid dishes for a reasonable price. My family says it's cheaper than Chinatown, but I don't think anything here is 'drop your jaw to the floor in amazement' cheap: Came at the tail end of lunch, so it was kind of crowded and hectic. Tables are bunched together so it makes it cramped and uncomfortable, especially if every seat is full. There are two seating areas, and two entrances. I think one is a take out counter of some sorts? I usually see people waiting around there. Nothing special about the interior. Kind of bland, boring, and unforgettable. Not particularly modern, trendy or even clean. But you don't come here for a foo foo, fine dining experience, but fast service and delicious dishes. Food: Roast duck and chicken -- can get any portion you want, and the skin is deliciously crispy. Plenty of grease and fat and sauce on the plate, so a hearty bowl of rice will soak that right up. Shrimp/walnuts with mayo sauce - Shrimps seem smaller than they used to when I came a couple years ago. As a result, a lot more mayo sauce to compensate for it. Broccoli was crisp and green, great crunchy bite. Chicken chow fun- My aunt didn't order the dry white noodle version I prefer, but this was equally good. Beef pan fried noodles -- Crispy noodles, plenty of gravy sauce. Maybe a bit too much, because once all the noodles are gone, or the remaining noodles at the bottom of the dish are completely soaked. What I love about it here is that the service is extremely fast, even when crowded and busy -- Have to hand it to the workers here. They are constantly getting pulled aside with new requests, even as they are bringing food to a different table. Every time we asked for something -- water, rice, soup, more tea, they never forgot and brought it out immediately. While they weren't super chipper or friendly like you see in American restaurants, they did their job and never expressed any attitude. It's a bit out of the way for me, and it's super busy in the general vicinity, so parking is awful. I probably wouldn't come here much, but whenever I do, I thoroughly enjoy the food.
